============================================================================== Dragon Dice Promo Dice Abilities 12/13/96 ============================================================================== by Stephen D'Angelo (dangelo@crystalkeep.com) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Promo Dice Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dragonlord: - This is a white huge (22 mm) die that counts as a 4 health unit. - It can cast any color of magic. - If the ID or TSR logo comes up on the dragonlord when a dragon attacks his army, the dragon is tamed! The battle ends with no damage to either side; the dragonlord controls the beast. During future turns, when the dragon would battle an opponent's army, you decide whether the attack occurs. During your turns, you can have it battle any army at the same terrain, or none at all. And during your reserve step, the dragonlord can "ride" its dragon to any terrain in play. - The TSR logo produces no effect except when rolled during a dragon's attack. - Restrictions: A dragonlord can master only one dragon at a time. If he is killed or goes to reserve, the dragon remains behind untamed. - Sides: ID, Mel(4), Cantr(4), Smite(4), Fly(4), TSR - Given out at conventions during summer 1995. Dragonmaster: - This is a huge (22 mm) die that comes in each of the 5 colors. - Functions just like the Dragonlord, except: 1) it can only tame dragons of its own color. 2) it can only cast magic of its own color. 3) The TSR icon counts as a 1/2 strength ID face (but does not count as an ID face for rout checks. - Sides are identical to the Dragonlord. - Given out at conventions in later 1995 and early 1996 and from TSR hobby shop mail order. Dragonslayer: - This is a white huge (22 mm) die that counts as a 4 health unit. - Only one White Dragonslayer die can be included for every 24 points in your forces. - If the TSR logo comes up on the Dragonslayer when a dragon attacks his army, the dragon is instantly slain! The battle ends with no damage to the Dragonslayer's side. The TSR logo doesn't count for anything else when rolling for other results. - Then the White Dragonslayer's melee icon comes up in melee combat, it counts as 4 points of damage. When it comes up at any other time (meaning saves, missiles and magic but not maneuvers), it instantly slays any unit at the terrain with no saves possible. - The Dragonslayer is immune to all dragon breaths; further, it extends this immunity to the rest of the army it is with. - Restrictions: Armies with Dragonslayers in them cannot promote units when they defeat a dragon. - Given out via a mail-in offer with the first Dragon Dice novel, which went up for sale in Summer 1996. The King's Die: - This is a purple huge (22 mm) die that counts as a 4 health unit. - It is put into your reserve area during setup, never leaves the reserves, and it cannot be attacked or targeted by spells. - The five sides of the die depict kings of the five races in the Dragon Dice game and first kicker pack. If you have units in reserve at the start of your turn, roll this die. If a king comes up, you may "promote" any reserve units of this race (trading each for a "dead" nonmonster die of the same race but worth 1 health more). If the TSR logo comes up, choose any one race for promotion. - Sides: ID, Amazon, Coral Elf, Dwarf, Goblin, Lava Elf - Given out via mail-i offers in late 1996 and early 1996. Red Dragon Champion: - This is a red huge (22 mm) die that counts as a 4 health unit. - It is a dragonkin and follows all the rules thereof, except that it is worth 4 health. - When the TSR logo is comes up, this player may move a red dragon from any terrain to any other terrain. - Sides: ID, Belly, Breath, Smite(4), Fly(4), TSR - Given out during mid 1996 at conventions and via some special offers. Blue Dragon Champion: - This is a red huge (22 mm) die that counts as a 4 health unit. - It is a dragonkin and follows all the rules thereof, except that it is worth 4 health. - When the TSR logo is comes up, this player may move a blue dragon from any terrain to any other terrain. - Sides: ID, Belly, Breath, Smite(4), Fly(4), TSR - Given out during fall 1996 as a mail-in offer for buying dice ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
