In order to get things rolling again, the rest of the story was simply created as a bridge to the next adventure. A Sudden Ending: (July 13, 693) The whole party worked hard on removing the Orb from the fountain but with little luck. They were attacked by "giant" spiders and had trouble navigating on the water. They found some help under the oak tree where a town of halflings made their home. After managing to solve some nasty social problems (by killing off the vile and ruthless leader) the other halflings helped out in moving the Orb out of the fountain. An accident, however, caused the Orb to drop out of the fountain whereupon it broke... and all hell broke loose. The Orb was the core of the magic that held all the humanoids in the area in a small form. When it broke, the magic was reversed and the party found themselves in the midst of a hoarde of creatures. Many of them realized that they were free and just began running. Others saw this as an opportunity to feed on the weak and confused. A battle started and the party had to work hard to defend itself. A pudgy dwarf joined their side in cleaning up the mess and showed himself to be useful in battle and in tending to the wounded. The worst part of the battle was when the leader of the Rat-Riders sent his men against the party. The battle was fierce and a lot of mana was spent. In the end the riders were defeated. They found a map on the leader's person. When all was done, there were a lot of bodies, a trampled garden and a small, partially burnt wayside house. Introducing Brewster: The dwarf that helped them out was named Brewster. He was a small, plump, man with a cheery attitude. He was a cleric of the god Shinare. He was out on a pilgrimage through the mountains when chance found him near the wayside house when the orb broke. After hearing their story, he was relieved to find out that the Orb was gone. He was very close to becoming the next victim of the shrinking Orb. Brewster's talks with them soon revealed that the Pastemakers were somehow slipped in time. Apparently time when shrunk was different than for those away from the Orb's influence. It was not July 21, 693... it was April 2, 697. A New Age: (April 10, 697) The group made its way back to civilization. Much had changed in the past four years. The orc wars ended in 694. The political flavor of the cities and countryside had changed significantly. And few people even remembered much of the Pastemakers and their glory. Johanthon and Trevor brooded over the lost opportunities and loss of fame. The group traveled to Istari first to check up on things and found that the town had grown even more pompus than before. Meloni was very upset by the loss. Apparently things had happened in her church which were not for the best. She decided to take leave from the group and stay in Istari to help make things better. The rest of the group decided to move west and went to Kestria THE FUTURE: The future of the group was made a bit cloudy by the flash forward. Seeking glory in the Orc wars is no longer an option. And with the wars over many of the higher level fighters, rangers, and such were returning to the land... making them not quite as special as before.
