[Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + Triggers once on each life gaining event, regardless of how much life is gained in that event. So it is possible for both players to lose during the resolution. For example if the opponent ends up at zero or less life and for you to draw while your library is empty. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Cyclopean Tomb: + Text(ABU+errata): {2},{Tap}: Put a mire counter on target non-Swamp land. That land is a Swamp as long as it has a mire counter on it. Drumhunter: + It triggers only if you control a creature of power 5 or greater at end of turn, then checks again when the ability is about to resolve. It will do nothing if you don't. Remember that power modifying effects that last until "end of turn" are still in effect. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + This ability will trigger only once per turn no matter how many power 5 creatures you control. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] - - * - * - E - * - * - - Elspeth, Knight-Errant: + Only one planeswalker ability can be played during your turn and only once each turn. See Rule 212.9f. [D'Angelo 2008/10/12] + Once the third ability resolves, it stays in effect until the end of the game, even if this card leaves play. It does not lock in which permanents are affected. It's a continuous ability that will apply to new permanents that enter play later. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + The indestructibility is not an ability of the permanents and cannot be removed as such. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + Note - Also see Indestructible, Rule G9.10. + Note - Also see Planeswalkers, Rule 212.9. + Note - Also see Token Creatures, Rule 216. Empyrial Archangel: + If you control this card and a Planeswalker at the time you would take damage, there will be two replacement effects--this card and the Planeswalker. You decide the order. If you have this one apply first, the damage is redirected to this card. If you apply the Planeswalker first, the opponent decides whether to redirect the damage to the Planeswalker or not. If they redirect it, the Planeswalker loses loyalty counters. If they don't, then this card's effect will kick in and redirect the damage here. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + Note - Also see Shroud, Rule 502.36. Energy Field: + Text(US+errata): Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you by sources you don't control. ; When a card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, sacrifice ~this~. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Ethersworn Canonist: + A spell is "played" when it is put on the stack, so even if the spell is countered, it still counts as "played". [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + This card does look back in time, and counts spells played even before it enters play. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + Any non-artifact spells on the stack when this enters play resolve normally. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Exuberant Firestoker: + It triggers only if you control a creature of power 5 or greater at end of turn, then checks again when the ability is about to resolve. It will do nothing if you don't. Remember that power modifying effects that last until "end of turn" are still in effect. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + This ability will trigger only once per turn no matter how many power 5 creatures you control. [D'Angelo 2008/10/01] Frozen Solid: + Text(CS+errata): Enchant creature. ; Enchanted creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step. ; When enchanted creature is dealt damage, destroy it. [Oracle 2008/10/01] - - * - * - G - * - * - - Game Preserve: + Text(MM+errata): At the beginning of your upkeep, each player reveals the top card of his or her library. If all cards revealed this way are creature cards, put those cards into play under their owners' control. [Oracle 2008/10/01] Gather Specimens: + This can be played in response to an opponent playing a Creature spell. Since this spell will resolve first, you will gain control of the creature when it enters play. [D'Angelo 2008/10/12] + This affects both token and non-token creatures. It affects creatures that come into play by any means. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If there are choices made or actions taken by the creature's controller as the creature comes into play (such as the Devour ability choosing and sacrificing), you get to make those choices and take those actions. Choices made prior to it coming into play are made normally. Look for the text "as ~this~ comes into play" for things that will act differently. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Some cards that are specifically affected include: Voice of All (you choose the color), Clone (you choose what it copies). [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + It only applies to creatures that come into play while this card is in play. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If there is more than one Gather Specimens in play by different players that can be applied at the same time, the controller of the spell or ability that is putting the creature into play decides which order to apply the Gather Specimens effects in. Each one gets only one chance to apply, so the last one applied "wins". In two player games, only one Gather Specimens normally can be applied at any given time so there really isn't a choice in those cases. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Goblin Assault: + The second ability applies to all Goblins controlled by all players. It does not just apply to the tokens from the first ability. You cannot play the ability unless you have two cards to remove. Since this is a cost, it cannot be responded to. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + The second ability works even if you have no cards in your graveyard, or otherwise have less than the number it tries to remove. It still prevents the damage. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + The third ability checks if your graveyard is empty only when it triggers. Getting a card into the graveyard before it resolves won't prevent you from losing. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If the third ability is countered and your graveyard is not empty, then you won't lose. If your graveyard is still empty, it'll trigger again. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + It is possible to get an infinite loop if something prevents you from losing the game while your graveyard is empty. For example, Platinum Angel with this card and an empty graveyard results in an involuntary infinite loop that ends the game in a tie unless someone can break the loop. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If you control both this card and a Planeswalker and you would take damage, you choose whether to apply the second ability of this card or the Planeswalker ability for the opponent to choose to redirect the damage first. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] Invincible Hymn: + The number of cards in your library is checked just once when this resolves. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + As per Rule 215.5, setting your life total is really a gain or loss of life and will be affected by and trigger abilities that look for such. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + In a Two-Headed Giant multiplayer game, this card will affect your share of your team's total. To figure this, your share is 1/2 of the current total (for example, 4 is half of 8). Then apply this effect (for example going to 20 means adding 16). Abilities that trigger on and effects that alter such gains and losses are applied normally. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + Any "leaves play" triggers will go on the stack after this finishes resolving. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If you control, but don't own, this card when it takes effect, then it will remain in play. If you own it, it will be shuffled into your library. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + It is possible to immediately lose again after this finishes resolving, for example if you have 10 poison counters. If you control, but don't own, this card when this happens, it may create an infinite loop that will end in a draw. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If all players would lose simultaneouly, but one player has this card, that player will have the loss replaced and will thereby be the winner. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If during a check for state-based effects, you'd lose the game at the same time a creature you own would be put into the graveyard, the game will try to send the creature to two place--the graveyard or to be shuffled into your library without going to the graveyard. Since these contradict, you choose which happens. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23] + If during a check for state-based effects, you'd lose the game for more than one reason, a single Lich's Mirror will replace all of them.
